Pebble lives in a warm volcano valley with the big dinosaurs, Bo and Tank, who roar all day long. Pebble can only whisper, and nobody hears. Then the volcano puffs a big white cloud, the valley fills with fog, and Bo’s baby Bean is lost. Tiny Pebble can see under the fog, finds Bean, and a whisper is just too small to call for help.

The two new words

roar

A big, loud, deep sound. It comes up 7 times, and every time a dinosaur throws its head back, rings of sound roll out and the whole page jumps.

whisper

To talk very softly. It comes up 8 times: Pebble leans in with a hand by its mouth and a tiny soft puff drifts out.

The two words are a pair, loud and soft, so each one helps explain the other. Every other word is a common word, like big, tiny, fog, valley, baby and hear.
